Kevin White Joins School for Startups Radio to Discuss Finance Needs for Growth Stage Companies
Kevin White, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Exbo Group, recently sat down with Jim Beach on School for Startups Radio. In this episode, Kevin dives into how Exbo Group got its start, the industries with which we work, and what sets us apart from other companies offering basic bookkeeping or FP&A support.
He also discusses what type of finance support growth stage companies at different stages could best benefit from, and he provides insight into the timing early stage companies should align with when it comes to building out their finance function.
When it comes to hiring, Kevin stresses the importance of finding resources, whether internally or externally, that have experience in both FP&A work and accounting. This will help ensure that you have a strong model built out and that your accounting meets GAAP standards. He says, “that’s usually the profile I recommend if you are trying to get one person. But, even then it can be a challenge because that person is likely going to want to focus on the model compared to the accounting.”
